Point Out Hypocrisy

Two Thousand Words, Just How Many Pages Is That?

Two Thousand Words

Two Thousand Words

Why two thousand? Why not a thousand more or a thousand less?

Words. In a perfect world they flow through fingers, through the keyboard, and onto the screen.

Two Thousand Words? I just can’t.

Wait, Sidney, back up. Back up. You can’t? What if you can?

Okay. Okay then. I will just type words and not care one whit for content and sense.

Is this the only way to write a long article that focuses mainly on the number of words in the article?

No. Doing it this way will not work for long.  So, it would seem that I have to diverse this blog’s content.

Oh No!

A private thought at this point brings up the fact that I have yet to reach the minimum 300 word count that is recommended for every blog.

Crazy shit. I mean, even at this point in the blog I am not even half way to the number of words I would need at minimum.

Do many words make a better blog?

SEO tools seem to think so; and who would know better than an SEO Tools Plug-In? Yikes.

Ok, some thoughts for today, 10 July 2018. What’s front and center in the news?

I am a few hours too late to write about the ongoing Thai Cave Rescue Operation because that has been successfully completed.

World Cup 2018.

As I write, France has qualified for the World Cup Final. England v Croatia, the other Semi Final, will be played tomorrow. The Final will be contested on Sunday 15 July 2018.

I have always supported England and while they are still in the competition I am picking England to take the World Cup.

I hear nothing but good news from Russia during this event so, kudos to the Russians for – so far at least – doing the World Cup the right way.

North Korea.

Mike Pompeo has returned from his third meeting with the North Koreans. The North Koreans are a sneaky, slimy, not-to-be-trusted bunch of thugs. I personally do not like Chairman Kim Jong-un. Not at all.

I don’t quite understand how a North Korean regime is actually allowed to exist in this 21st century. Peace on the Korean peninsula is the goal. Denuclearise North Korea is the message.

President Trump, in my opinion, is doing a fantastic job of keeping North Korea tame and lame right now. The North Korean regime, however, will not uphold their commitments in any agreement. The North Korean regime is a cancer unto the country itself.

I expect the president to have in place a massive economic response to any failure of North Korea to work towards regional peace.

Fuck You North Korea!

South Africa.

The country of my birth. I am so happy to have removed myself from Africa and to have been welcomed by North America.

The country of South Africa is in a sad state of affairs. A quarter of a century in to the post-apartheid era and the country has back slid its way to economic junk status. Resource rich South Africa is a shit hole thanks to the ANC.

I see no breakthrough in South Africa until and unless a person with the personality, resolve, and positive track record, like Donald J. Trump, is elected to lead the country.

When I was a young (very young) man in South Africa some four decades ago I did not see then how the country could stabilise. And it has not stabilised. The situation is worse than ever. Crime and poverty are higher than ever.

The thing that pisses me off the most about the post-apartheid era in South Africa is that corruption was allowed to take place, unchecked, since 1994. It is now 2018 and corruption is worse than ever. This is too long a time for any economic recovery to be easy, or, for that matter, possible.

Note: my mission for this blog is to attain two thousand words. At this point in the blog I am not even at 700 words. So, I am going to lose the two thousand word goal. It’s a struggle to reach one thousand words as I have discovered.

Brexit.

This is a subject I totally do not understand. Watching with half an eye, from Canada, the whole Brexit affair seems surreal.

Before the referendum to quit the EU hopes were high throughout England that the Brexit Leave vote would succeed. And succeed it did!

But, then, the next day it seemed that England was questioning her vote. Bizarre. And now British Cabinet Ministers are resigning from the government. I don’t get it.

The question really is, should I care? Should I give a shit? I say to the UK, stop fucking around and get the hell out of the European Union.

Do I reach my goal?

Two thousand words is a lot of writing, a lot of typing. Crikey, one thousand words is a lot. Right now I have just topped 800 words and I am about done.

A good lesson learned but no, the goal was not reached. I bit off more than I could chew.
